Midnight’s Daydream
You sleep/ and the warmth of your body/ speaks love stories to me/ it generates from your chest and your touch (indirectly and consequently your soul)/ only to radiate my spine and my heart (directly and therefore my soul).
As you pull me closer to you/ with all my being/ I attempt to melt and/ be one with you/ as it is my way of saying, “don’t worry baby, I’m here”/ I feel the strength of your heart beat, on my vertebrae, as it feeds life into me/ Nursing me through your slumber/ my senses are heightened/ I feel, see, smell, and oh yes dear/ I taste you too
As my very own Picasso/ you paint images of calming peace and/ radiating joy on my canvas/ therefore making it a masterpiece of cotured simplicity/ yet and still I feel the tears dampen my face
I am frustrated because the words capture not the feeling of my heart’s content/ as my vocal chords cannot express the complexities of my heart/ so/ I’ll/ be/ silent
I’ll just be silent/ lay in your arms/ listen to your heartbeat/ and feel the coolness of your breath/ on my neck as/ you sleep peacefully…/ and peacefully/ I will enjoy the moment and pray/ that my tears/ do not distort/ the masterpiece you’ve painted/ in my/ heart
Goodnight and sleep well
