Memory's "UNCANNY'ed" Thought of The Day: Steve McNair

Finally, huh?? Several people have asked me why I have not commented on the Steve McNair tragedy, and honestly, I really don't have a good answer as to why yet--however, I ran across an article today that moved me to finally have something to say but first, take a look at the article entitled Big Pimpin' (Steve McNair):

I had a lot of respect for the athletic prowess of Steve McNair. The man was a trailblazer, a leader on the field, and his passion for his craft was incomparable. I’m saying this to outline the fact that he was great at what he did. But his untimely and unfortunate homicide on the 4th of July speaks to a dichotomy within this man that must be addressed.

In this article, I am neither vilifying nor disrespecting his memory. I’m simply discussing how tomorrow is not promised to ANY of us. I doubt Mr. McNair knew that his final breath would be taken on the 4th of July, 2009. I wonder if he would have done things differently had he known. Would he have appreciated his wife more? Would he have told his four children that he loved them from the bottom of his heart? It is speculated that the condo he was shot to death in was one shared with his girlfriend. I truly hope that is not the case, but if it is, Mr. McNair was definitely engaged in what I like to call “Big Pimpin‘.”

As searing hot bullets were assaulting multiple parts of his body, with one shot piercing his head with tragic finality, would he want his death to be remembered by the allegation that he died in the condo of his alleged girlfriend? His GIRLFRIEND, not his wife! That speculation alone brought tears to my eyes more than anything else.

Read the rest of the article here.

The one thing I can say is that as I grow older and wiser, God has sensored my tounge quite a bit and I am ever so grateful to Him for doing so. I have really started to think before the first thing that comes to mind is released into the atmosphere. With that being said, I think I am ready to comment.

We can ALL learn from this tragedy--not so much from the mess, but the MESSAGE the tragedy brings, and the main thing that was spoken to me personally from this incident is NOW is the time to get my house in order! It matters not the story behind this whole thing, because McNair will have to deal with his judgement before Him--as we all will.

Is Steve McNair wrong because he got caught in the act?? Are you justified in your actions because you didn't get caught in the act...this time....

So I pose this question to my audience: Is YOUR house in order? And while most people may think that I am specifically speaking about an individual's personal life, I'm not (don't get me wrong, that's a good thing to get straight too)--I specifically mean your relationship with God! I know that my relationship with God isn't bad--but it could be better. How can I judge this man??

There's an old song by the Williams Brothers called "Sweep Around Your Own Front Door" and I've posted it below:

"For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." -Matthew 7:2

Find the message that God is trying to speak to YOU through this mess.

I will continue to pray for the McNair family.

Great post Mem! "Let He who has not sinned cast the first stone." I believe that all day. Stevey Mac's death definitely has me thinking twice about being the Old Meek Tha Freak though!

Good Job Mem! We all need to reevaluate our lives so that we don't make the same mistake. Mistakes comes with consequences. Therefore, Our lives must be guided daily by Jesus. I am proud of you Memory! Shame on me! I thought you weren't listening!
