Speaking of marriage...how do you know when you're ready to tie the knot??? Or better yet, how does a man know when he's ready to propose to a woman, and how does a woman if she's saying 'Yes, I'll marry you." to the right man? This question has really puzzled me. Here's a few marriage stories that I find intriguing:
1) A friend of mine told me that her sister gave her boyfriend an ultimatum: "Marry me by August 30th or we're through." He ended up proposing September 1. Was he planning to marry her anyway or did he react to the fire that was put under his behind?
2) A co-worker of mine got pregnant and decided that she didn't want to be a single-mother, so her and her boyfriend (now husband) got married. I think that was ten years ago, but is she happy today?? Well, she loves her kids, but if her 'true' knight and shining armour came along to sweep her off her feet, she'd leave her husband in a heartbeat (these are her words--not mine).
3) My parents have been married for 28 years. They renewed their vows on their 25th anniversary and every time I see them, they still look like they are in love.
Now, I've never been married--I hope to be married sooner rather than later, but it just seems to me that marriage is a lot of work and it's what you make it. They'll be good and bad days, but what matters most is the believing in and keeping sacred the vows taken between those two people, the friendship that has been created and nurtured between them, and the fight in both parties to save and preserve a precious union.
